A group of ten sentenced of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of circulating false claims regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A circulating conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's identity.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens disregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The two married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
